The Villages of La Costa
The Villages were originally three large parcels and a number of smaller parcels remaining from the original La Costa community plan which was responsible for the development of the world renowned La Costa Resort’s hotel, spa and golf course from the early 1970’s.
In a partnership with Bell Canada, Benchmark Pacific developed a master plan, as well as more specific maps on the property for their development during the mid and late 1980’s. After the planning was approved by the City of Carlsbad the entire holding was sold in 1989.
Many areas of The Villages have been developed in accordance with Benchmark’s original plan which was very sensitive to maintaining environmentally sensitive areas of the property. This is evidenced in the many open space areas which exist in the community today, even after the development has taken place.
La Costa Greens
La Costa Greens overlook the North golf course of the La Costa Hotel and Spa.
Fully developed, this community includes proportionally larger open space areas including water areas and hiking trails. It also includes a community center, tennis club and an assortment of other amenities.
La Costa Valley
La Costa Valley, fully developed today, has proven to be a most friendly environment including a recreation center, tennis courts, a day care facility, a church site and a Carlsbad Unified School District site. It also includes extensive walking trails around the open space areas within the community.
